Recent Works

OK, I’m generally pretty terrible at promoting myself. But some projects that I’ve been working on for the past couple of years have been making waves recently. Last week, three artists I work with have released music videos. I figured it’s due time that I dust off this site and post something.

First off we have my good friends, Jay Love & The Avid Record Collector, with an amazing video directed by Jay Love himself. The song is called “Today (A Tribute)” and it’s a shout out to all the greats that have influenced them along the way. Aside from making lyrical references to some of Jay’s favorite tracks, his lyrics speak on a subconscious level about the current state of hip hop, and the absence of respect of the genre’s history and roots by its current players. Avid’s beat is an instant classic; it’s catchy and you won’t easily be able to resist bobbing your head to it. Now while I am collaborating with this crew on Jay Love’s solo album, I didn’t work on this particular track. However I did assist in the process of getting this video on mtvU’s “The Freshmen” where it aired for five consecutive days and earned an overwhelmingly positive response from viewers.

Next up we have a video from my friends, The Buckwheat Groats. If you’re not sure who they are, be sure to go and check out some of their hilarious videos on FunnyOrDie. These guys blend comedy and hip hop like artisan mixologists. I had the honor of mixing and mastering the track for this music video. It’s probably Not Safe For Work, and it might even be considered by some to be racist. Really, it’s just a tribute and these guys don’t hold anything back for a laugh. Shot on location in South Korea and points East, here is “Swag Like An Asian”.
